Konak Municipality has began to turn the historical building of the Social Services and Child Protection Agency, located on Oteller Street in Basmane, into a community education and cultural center. Restoration works of the building, which has not been used since 1973 and has been destroyed due to neglect, started within the scope of the project. Architectural Restoration Department of İzmir Institute of Technology also supports these studies.

After the restoration, which is aimed to be completed in one year, the center will include sewing, painting workshops, classrooms and a computer laboratory. The building, which has the characteristics of 19th century Greek architecture on 1296 and 1299 streets, consists of two normal floors and a basement floor. The building, which has unique characteristics due to its architectural features, will add a different beauty to the Hotel Street when it is completed.
