Pergamon Acropolis Summer School Workshop
As part of the summer school organized in collaboration with İzmir Institute of Technology and the German Archaeological Institute, our students from the Departments of Architecture and City and Regional Planning conducted a study on proposing an organization of visitor circulation at the Ancient Theatre and Gymnasium in the Acropolis of Pergamon. The study was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Elif Uğurlu Sağın, Instructor Virginia Thompson Couch, and Research Assistant Tuğçe Aydınalp. By exploring how ancient structures and archaeological sites can be related to contemporary needs while respecting their heritage values, the study provided our students with a different perspective on the conservation of historic heritage and contemporary design.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our Rector, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran, and the Bergama Municipality for their valuable support in making this study possible.
