Our Research Assistant Hatice Ayşegül Demir participated in the “FuturHist Retrofit Academy” realized under the theme of “European Summer Academy on the Refurbishment of Historic Buildings” held in Krakow, Poland, from September 7 to 13, 2026, and hosted by the Sendzimir Foundation. This event took place within the scope of the project titled “FuturHist: An integrated typology-based approach to guide the future development of European historic buildings towards a clean energy transition,” which is supported by the European Union and the United Kingdom Research and Innovation Organizations. During the event, participants worked in international subgroups to develop energy-efficient retrofit proposals for specific historic masonry buildings in Krakow and gained hands-on experience with the “toolkit” produced by the FuturHist project; the resulting projects were subsequently presented to heritage conservation experts from the Krakow Municipality and specialists from various partner organizations, such as Eurac Research and Edinburgh World Heritage.
