Our department research assistant, Nihan Bulut, was awarded a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) Grant within COST Action CRICULT (CA24125) for the research entitled “Crisis Matrix Design for Maritime Heritage Risk Assessment: Methodological Contributions to the CRICULT Working Group 2.”

As part of the grant, she carried out a research stay at Loughborough University, School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering, United Kingdom, from 31 August to 11 September 2026.

The STSM focused on strengthening the methodological framework of the multi-hazard risk assessment approach for maritime cultural heritage developed within her doctoral research. The study explored how concepts and methodological approaches from risk assessment, vulnerability, and resilience research can support the systematic assessment of cultural heritage crises, with particular attention to multi-hazard and cascading processes, as well as scenario development.

The STSM contributed to the further development of the COST Action’s methodological framework while strengthening international academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.
